Yet Another New Law!

Thumbs Down on Texting Okay, admittedly I also believe texting is one of the most dangerous activities on the road today, but I don't believe we need to make another law to enforce what is already in a large part is being ignored by law enforcement. On a daily basis, I observe car after car of driver's talking or texting in motion or at stop lights. One would think that there would be a plethora of issued tickets and revenue from all these violations. Ahhh, but lets not forget that an officer needs probable cause to pull you over, such as irradic driving, non-use of your signals or something that causes an unsafe driving condition. So now, simply possessing a handheld device in your hand gives probable cause to be stopped. From this article: Cuomo warned that drivers merely caught holding a hand-held device will still get slapped with a ticket. "If you're holding the device in your hands," he said, " the presumption is you're using it ."  ...

The Shocking Verdict! Yet Justice Was Served!

I really was shocked when I heard this "not guilty" verdict on the radio. I had to pull over and absorb what was just said and determined by these jurors. I never thought they could pull themselves beyond the highly emotional elements in this case and deal with ONLY the FACTS and the lack of corroborating EVIDENCE and render a correct verdict of not guilty; but they did. The prosecution did not prove their case. They were pushing for a murder conviction when they didn't even have proof of cause of death. Our justice system says that they must prove their case "beyond a reasonable doubt" and without a known and provable cause of death, there's doubt. The prosecutor's job is to proceed when they feel they have enough evidence to back and prove their case. They had nothing but speculation, circumstances based on speculation and the strange behavior of the defendant to pursue this case on. They spent a lot of taxpayer money on a murder trial that didn'...

A New "Offender" Registry

Register-Her website I find this quite comical and yet appropriate because it only levels the playing field for those whom feel that it's okay to make false allegations without any remorse or accountability for their actions. I agree with many of the articles and radio commentary on the A Voice for Men website and Paul Elam's Blog Talk Radio show ; as it really does seem that men are being victimized and imprisoned falsely without much support or recourse. I'm not a big fan of registries as I feel that they cause many collateral issues and they are not equal and fair for all types of felons. Sex Offender registries are yet to be proven to be effective for anything other than preventing those registered from freely living, working and co-existing within society. The recidivism rate is the lowest of any other crime and those that do re-enter the "system" are violated for not registering; not because they committed another sex offense. The registry is nothing mo...
