If the public can read this article and it doesn't make them lose some serious sleep; then there is something very wrong with what we allow our top law enforcers get away with! Sex Offender Enrolls at SUNY Geneseo; Students Notified The better 'safe than sorry' approach to registered individuals as to protect society and for us to know who is 'living next door' is okay I suppose if you are going to register every convicted felon in the same manner. The students here seem to be unsure about privacy issues, but feel overall that it was a good idea to know who was attending their school. As this article states, Wood was convicted of armed robbery and statutory rape, then sent to prison for those crimes for 7 years. I'm sure the armed robbery was a cut and dry case; but the rape? Pediatrician's suicide note denies allegations The allegations referenced in this article sound so familiar. Cases such as Kelli Michaels, John Stoll and the many other mass allegations at daycare providers back in the 80's. This article alludes to as many as 5000 victims! Yes he was right. It does look like a flash back to the Salem Witch Hunt days. I know nothing about the facts in this case, but it just follows up with my comments on my previous post. Former Emery Co Sheriff's Captain commits suicide I was the first (that I know of) to comment on this article and felt I had made a very objective commentary to the article. Apparently the Deseret News disagrees. Here is my post to that article. You decide. His suicide should not be an indicator of guilt. These allegations are the worst to be accused of. The previous article alleges the abuse occurred over a ten year period. As most law enforcement people know, these allegation cases are the most difficult to disprove, generally requires no physical evidence to back these allegations and jury prejudice is easily acquired and the risk of a guilty verdict is extremely risky. Too many of these cases result in plea deals in avoidance of "life or extended" prison sentences and the known risks of going to prison.
