Girl's Night Out Gone Bad? Two Lives Change in an Instant Biurny Peguero Accused William McCaffrey of 2005 Rape

The 20/20 Story link: http://abcnews.go.com/2020/TheLaw/girls-night-bad-rape-accusation-lives/story?id=10435889 This girl should NOT be put in prison for coming forward and telling the truth that frees an innocent man. Punishing her with prison time only sends a bad message to others that have done this to other innocent persons that if they come forward, they go to prison. Nobody will come forward and innocent persons will live a life of hell in prison as a rapist or child molester. These cases are so difficult in the first place because a person can be convicted without any forensic evidence, no witnesses, no DNA, but only on the "word" of the victim and by the extreme emotions surrounding these types of allegations. And once in prison and labeled for your "alleged crime", you are safe from no one, guards and inmates alike. You will be beat, likely cut or stabbed, denied basics like food and showers and falsely "ticketed" so you receive in ...

Feds won't file charges in death of teen at Florida boot camp

Article Link: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2010/04/feds-wont-file-charges-in-06-florida-boot-camp-death/1 Is this really how our society perceives justice? And the Dept. of Justice finds no wrong doing? If a parent were to inflict severe "corporal punishment" upon their kid, they'd spend the rest of their life in prison...guaranteed. Apparently the state and government are exempt. I always understood that the use of deadly force required certain criteria for justification...and it took 7 of them to handle this kid until he died? Crazy stuff. Read the Justice department report and the comments below the article too. The real thugs are wearing the uniforms. What kind of "man" can morally justify beating a 14 year old kid to death, let alone, a group beating? The Justice Department says that "bad judgment" cannot be used against the attackers, but it was bad judgment that was used against the youth to put him in this situati...

Wis. prosecutor: Teachers risk arrest over new sex-ed classes

link: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2010/04/wisconsin-da-says-teachers-face-arrest-over-new-sex-ed-classes/1 It is amazing how "off topic" the discussion becomes on these discussion boards. Most miss the entire point of the article being about a DA wanting to criminally charge a teacher for teaching approved subject matter. At the same time as we read commentary from the "general public" and see how opinion, prejudice and emotion effect one's thought process; the question I raise is how does this effect the ability to have a clear and unbiased jury in cases that involve such emotionally impacted cases involving sex related crimes or allegations? Remember that in many of these types of cases there is generally no physical or forensic evidence, no witnesses, no DNA to dispute and usually only the word of one against another. That being said, pure objectivity is crucial because case history has shown that many innocent persons have been ...

Two Orleans Correctional Officers Arrested

On-Line link: http://www.whec.com/news/stories/S1498165.shtml Posted at: 04/05/2010 11:22 AM Two local corrections officers have been arrested after a seven-month investigation. They are accused of selling prescription drugs and marijuana. David Lundin, 56 of Albion, and Lee Salmon, 41 of Wolcottsville, work at the Orleans Correctional Facility in Albion. Police say they seized prescription drugs, one pound of marijuana, cash, a handgun, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia after executing a search warrant at an Albion apartment. Both men were arraigned and committed to the Orleans County Jail in lieu of bail. Salmon and Lundin are due back in court on April 6. Further arrests and charges are pending. Much of the contraband introduced to inmates is by Correctional personnel. Quite often correctional personnel steal inmate property, from their food packages brought in by family members or simply pop a ce...

Injustice and Abuse of Power is Injustice No Matter What Form it Comes In!

March 24, 2010 New York Freedom Riders Uncovers the Truth about State Law Enforcement Agencies So Called Compliant Helmets New York State law enforcement has been conducting motorcycle only checkpoints during major motorcycle events for several years and they will be increasing statewide enforcement initiatives in 2010. New York State Police have claimed that with the rise in motorcycle fatalities, these motorcycle only checkpoints are to increase motorcycle safety by insuring compliance with applicable Vehicle and Traffic Laws and one of the primary focuses was to check that riders were wearing legal USDOT-compliant helmets. In 2009 the State Police held 33 motorcycle only checkpoints. A total of 24,030 motorcycles were checked resulting in a mere 840 tickets issued for what they feel were illegal helmets. The New York Freedom Riders was unable to locate the number of helmets checked during these checkpoints. [1] The NYS Sheriffs' Association and the NYS Associat...
