June is False Allegations Awareness Month

Here is a letter written to the editor of one of the Cambridge, OH newspapers. It is well written and speaks for itself without any additional commentary from me. I now share this with you and hope that you read it as intently as it was written! Thank you Janice for your contribution and perspective on this important subject! FALSE ALLEGATIONS – CRIMES UNPUNISHED “An injustice to One Man, Woman, or Child Threatens Justice to All People Equally”, Dean Tong. Our legal system can no longer guarantee equal protection under the law and a person is innocent until proven guilty is now far from inviolate.   How did we come to such sad commentary? False Allegation Survey

S.A.V.E. False Allegation Survey The 23% response rate is interesting. I am also curious about the 77% that didn't respond out of the 10,000 surveyed? Did they refuse to respond or comment? Was the subject of the survey just too sensitive to talk about? Is 23% a good statistical expectation on a survey of this type? I don't really know but the results based on those that did respond should open your eyes! One of the comments related to a "lawyer feeding frenzy". Really I'm not so sure this is not so far from part of the problem in these cases. The issue is that with a true false allegation case, there is no evidence and the only things the prosecutor's have to hang their hats on are the alleged victim's words, and in the cases involving children, the corroborating words of a vindictive parent or adult. Couple this with the natural prejudice and bias surrounding any allegation of sexual abuse; and you have a potentially fatal chance at a jury trial. N...
